For all the people who share in my true disdain for the 90 degree weather we’re still having, you understand how much I am looking forward to Fall. As much as I love walking out of my house to feel the sun searing my face and the back sweat going in full gear before I even get to my car, I’ve had enough of summer. You hear that Mother Nature? It’s time to move on. My closet begs of you.
This girl is so ready to be basic. Boots, leggings, oversized sweaters…ah, I swoon at the thought. Admittedly, I’ve started unpacking my favorite fall pieces hoping to will the cooler Fall weather I so desperately long for. Clearly, I must of jinxed it. But none the less, despite it being the middle of September already, the crisp Fall weather we all fall in love with each year is on its way.
One of the best things about being a women, is the transformation of wardrobe from season to season. If you’re anything like me, Fall is one of your favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I love my daisy dukes, sun-kissed skin and summer dresses, but there’s nothing like curling up in a big sweater with a cup of hot chocolate on a beautiful Fall weekend.
As we sweat it out through the last of this Summer heat, take refuge with me in planning which Fall trends you’re going to invest in. To help keep you on point this season, I’m here with your 2016 Fall fashion trends presented by Saks at Beachwood.
Over the weekend I was invited to Saks to hear from their handbag and shoe experts on the Fall trends that are sweeping the fashion industry. Without further ado, here are your 2016 Fall fashion trends in shoes and handbags.
Shoes
To me Fall is all about simplicity. The colors are more neutral and we have a lot more basic, core pieces in our closets, that we mix-and-match all season long. Because of the more subdued nature of Fall fashion, it’s important to have the one outfit making piece. And this is where your shoes come into play.
Add a little bit of edge to your look this Fall with combat boots. This is a reoccurring trend we’ve seen for a few seasons now and it shows no signs of going anywhere. You will also see a lot of rock stud embellishment this season. Pick up a pair of rock studded combat boots and this will be one fall trend you nailed!
Up next on the list…the chunky heal. If you haven’t tried the chunky heel, you are seriously missing out! Not only are they unique and can really take your outfit from drab to fab, but they are INSANELY comfortable. The thicker heel (and usually platform base), ease the strain on your foot and allows it so you can wear these beauts all day and not hate your life by the end of it. Like the rock studs, you will also see a lot of velvet and suede this fall. Don’t let velvet scare you, especially on a shoe, it’s just the right amount, so you can be on trend without taking it too far.
Lastly, the shoe we’ve all been waiting for and love dearly…boots. If there is one trend you’re going to invest in this season, let it be the over the knee boot. This style if so versatile, can be worn through the winter and makes your legs look long and slim (and who doesn’t love that!). The over the knee boot can be dressed up or dressed to and truly is an outfit making piece.
If you’ re looking for something with a little more spunk and flare, try the chelsea boot. This is another huge trend that we’re seeing a lot of again this Fall. Pair it will your favorite fall dress, textured tights and jean jacket for a more artsy vibe, or throw them on with your favorite pair of cuffed skinny jeans and rock band T-shirt for a more grunge look.
Handbags
Like a lot of women, handbags and purses are my personal weakness. I love that no matter what I’m wearing I can completely change the look just by adding a purse. Plus, who doesn’t love walking around with a piece of artwork on their arm. Any bag with top handles is very much on trend this season. We are also seeing a lot of saddle bags (so cute!) and again, rock studs. While most of us are not running out to buy designer handbags, no one does the rock stud and unique design better than Valentino.
Next on the 2016 Fall trend list…fur. I know what you’re thinking, “fur? Seriously? No way can I, nor do I want to pull off a fur purse.” I though the same thing when I first saw it too. However, I have to say it’s growing on me. In small doses, like the one below, fur is a super fun trend to jump on, very unique and an outfit game changer. It’s also a great way to add a pop of color to what can sometimes be a dreary season. Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw this Fall and be a little daring in with your wardrobe. You might find you feel like a whole new person with just the addition of a new hand bag and a little fur.
Lastly, if there is one trend in purses that every women should invest in, it’s the wallet on a chain. Giving new life to the clutch, the wallet on a chain has builtin credit card slots and is large enough to fit all your essentials, but small enough that it really is like wearing a clutch. The best part about this trend is how versatile it is. With a chain strap that is easily removable or hidden inside the bag you can wear this to a formal dinner out as a clutch or to Sunday brunch with your girlfriends as a cross body.
If you have any questions about how to style any of these trends, the ladies at Saks Fifth Avenue at Beachwood can help! Today through Sunday, Saks is hosting their annual Shoe and Handbag Focus Week. Stop in the store or shop online with their live chat feature to learn more about these trends and how you can add them into your personal Fall ready-to-wear collection.
Happy Fall shopping!
So excited for fall trends! My go-tos are skinny jeans, soft oversized sweaters and cowgirl boots!!! Chasing around three small kiddos I only wear Corral boots. You’d never know there’s a padded insole hiding inside a snakeskin boot!
Such a great piece, I may need to hire the writer, Gabby Gentile to help me shop for fall attire! ?
I’m waiting for a cool day for my oversized sweater and leggings!! It cannot come soon enough.
